child care for 2010
Dear lovely zinester folk,
It would superb to have childcare available at the 2010 symposium (even for part of the time). It was discussed today at our rad parenting zine workshop. I have a teen who would be happy to volunteer helping with this situation and I may also be willing to help.
Ciao!
That would be pretty grand, the organizers can certainly set aside a room for kiddos and there caretakers. Will work that into out workshops rooms request.
perhaps also put a call out for folks to volunteer to do child care so parents can have an op to check out the symposium sans kiddos if they are so inclined?
:)
Amy, not a bad idea, email the suggestion to pdxzines@gmail.com and I will forward it to our volunteer coordinator, Alex Wrekk. If someone volunteers to fill out workshop form in order to save a room for a child care, they can work out the details with Dylan (who is coordinating workshops/panels/discussions), and then run the child care room with whatever volunteers Alex can send their way.
Wondering if anything ever came of this? The person I edit my zine with is a mama who could really use child care on Saturday while she is at our table... any updated info about possibility this would be wonderful.
Checking in late... wondering if childcare ever got off the ground? If you have shifts for helping, I'd be willing to volunteer. As a public school teacher I've had my background check and first aid training which might be helpful.
No one ever facilitated this and it's way to late in prep to really make it happen for this year, unfortunately.
I'm looking for a parent to trade an hour or two of care with at the symposium - I've got a panel on Sunday at noon and a 9-month-old. Meredith, maybe your co-editor would be interested?
I will most likely be at PZS both days. I would love to do a trade ---I have a 2 year old daughter, experience as a nanny & worked in childcare a lot over the years. E-mail me and we can discuss specifics. :)
